Front (eF14) announces it has raised $65 million in Series D round, two years after raising its Series C led by business angels. This round now values Front at a $1.7B valuation, making it the third eFounders-launched start-up to become a unicorn, after Aircall (eF14) and Spendesk (eF16). Front also joins the very exclusive circle of 10 other SaaS unicorns founded and led by women.
Almost 10 years in the making
The idea for Front came in 2013. At the time, we wanted to allow teams to collaborate on all incoming messages from customers by creating a shared inbox. Mathilde Colin and Laurent Perrin arrived as co-founders and CEO and CTO, respectively. Front was born. Very soon and they’d be on their way to San Francisco, where they got accepted to Y Combinator S14 batch — making it the first eFounders company to join the prestigious US accelerator. Props to the founders for taking the bet of founding a company in the US!
Mathilde and Laurent are exceptional leaders who have transformed an idea into a successful company with a culture centered around transparency and making work happier. The company now valued at over 1.7 billion, has won the trust of additional investors Salesforce Ventures and Battery Ventures who are leading this Series D round. Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Threshold Ventures, and Uncork Capital also participated in the financing. We are incredibly proud of the work Mathilde, Laurent and the whole Front team have achieved over the last 9 years.
Making work happier for everyone
While this valuation milestone is an undeniable achievement, what is truly exceptional is the company culture Mathilde Colin and Laurent Perrin have built. Front’s mission “to make work happier” isn’t just words thrown together but a real promise coupled with concrete actions. Front has consistently been ranked in best workplaces lists, best startup lists, and most transparent companies. It was recently recognized as one of the best workplaces in the Bay Area 2022, for the 4th year in a row! Props to Mathilde and Laurent for having created a healthy and attractive company, a feat that is harder to achieve than becoming a unicorn.
But Front doesn’t make work happier just for employees, they also make work happier for their customers. Today, nearly 8000 businesses in 100 countries use Front to power their customer experiences. Its customer satisfaction score (CSAT) has averaged 98 percent in the past 12 months and has consistently been ranked one of the top 10 companies globally. Front now has offices in San Francisco (HQ), Chicago, Dublin, Paris, and all over the world remotely.
What’s next
It’s only the start for Front. The now unicorn will use the funds to accelerate investments in both product and go-to-market initiatives and to continue driving its global expansion, particularly in EMEA where the company has offices in Paris and Dublin.
