2024 at Hexa: a year of building bigger

December 30, 2024
Hexa

2024 was a year of giving it our all. Within the studio, we made big strides toward our goal of launching 30 startups a year by 2030. That meant growing our core team, partnering with more founders, sourcing and validating more ideas, and raising funds. Everyone really put in the work to make things happen.

Our startups had a good year too, with €100M ARR growth across our portfolio. Pulling that off while balancing growth and profitability, especially in uncertain times, is no small feat.

It wasn’t always easy, but the results speak for themselves. The sheer energy made a real difference.

10 new startups were built

We launched 10 new companies in 2024—doubling last year’s record of five. These startups, built with 16 incredible founders, include FieldX (the salesperson’s AI companion), Annette, Basalt, OpenCertiX (open-source compliance), SleepX (insomnia treatment for women), LegalX (AI copilot for lawyers), DermaScan (skin cancer screening), Tandem, Reki, and StandardX (AI for first customer calls).

The increase shows what’s possible with a strong team and scalable model. For more about this year’s launches, check out our Hexa 2024 Batch article.

Our fundraising closed at €35 million

We closed a €15 million fundraising round, bringing the total to €35 million. This funding, along with new credit lines, is fueling our ability to scale operations and support more founders. A huge thanks to our investors for believing in our vision and helping us take this next step.

Numeral had an exit

Numeral (HX21) reached a major milestone this year with its acquisition by Mambu. In just three years, the team built a platform capable of processing billions annually, partnered with major banks like HSBC and BNP Paribas, and earned the trust of 20+ customers across Europe.

This acquisition reflects the strength of what Numeral built—a cutting-edge payments platform now integrated with Mambu’s core banking system. Together, they’re positioned to challenge outdated payment infrastructures and take on some of the biggest names in the industry. It’s a well-deserved outcome for the Numeral team.

Our partners expanded their focus

Our partners moved beyond traditional verticals like AI and health to focus on high-impact opportunities that span industries. By listing 16+ precise areas of interest—such as infrastructure for vertical AI agents—they broadened the scope for new ideas to connect with founders eager to build in these spaces.

Our team grew

Reaching our goal of 30 startups a year by 2030 requires exceptional talent at every level. This year, we brought on 16 founders, 19 new employees across the studio’s startups, and 9 additions to Hexa’s core team. It’s a big step forward, made possible by a recruitment team dedicated to finding people with the skills and drive to make an impact.

La Cristallerie became a hub

Our offices became everything we envisioned when it opened in 2023: not just a workspace, but a hub for entrepreneurship. We hosted over 50 events, bringing thousands of people together for panels, networking, and discussions on topics like women in leadership and trends in AI.
